Weight gain during pregnancy

Every woman's body is different and weight gain during pregnancy will vary greatly. How much weight you gain is really influenced by your prepregnancy weight. Experts agree that what you weighed before pregnancy is the best indicator of how much weight you should gain during pregnancy. Also, if you are shorter than 5'2" tall, try to gain at the lower end of the weight range.

Nearly 45% of all pregnant women gain more weight than they should. If you do, your risk of problems goes up. You also put your baby at risk if you have too much of weight gain during pregnancy. Your child will also have a much higher risk of being overweight by the age of 7.

Many experts call for a weight gain figure of 2/3 of a pound (10 ounces) a week until 20 weeks, then 1 pound a week from 20 to 40 weeks.

You shouldn't diet while you are pregnant, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't watch what you eat. You should. Your baby will get proper nutrition from the foods you eat and will not have a huge weight gain during pregnancy. Healthy pregnancy without the pounds.

Research shows that if you dieted a lot before pregnancy, you may gain more weight than recommended during pregnancy, so it's so important to pay attention to your eating plan. Choose foods for the nutrition they provide for you and your developing baby. Watch your stress levels, and try not to get too tired. If you are stressed, tired or anxious, you may tend to eat more fats, sweets and junk food. This can lead to an unhealthy amount of weight gain during pregnancy.

Following is a key to what should be your estimated weight gain during pregnancy:

* If your weight before pregnancy was considered to be underweight- the recommended weight gain should be 28 to 40 pounds
* If you were normal weight, it is recommended 25 to 35 pounds
* If you were overweight, it is recommended to be 15 to 25 pounds
